passed his final examination, be brought into
this Department until some permanent
post is assigned to him. It is not desirable, however, to remove either
of the two Cadets from Canton at present,
as such a step would interfere with
their studies in Chinese, which have hitherto been
a very important part of
their training, and might be detrimental to
the time hitherto devoted
to that object - I am
of opinion
that there ought always to be two
